OUR MISSION STATEMENT

ASTI – A Step Towards Independence is a privately-owned education and care service for children 6 weeks to 6 years. The educators at our service hold a commitment to early childhood education. Our practices and service delivery are based on the National Quality Framework, monitored by the Regulatory Authorities and responsible to ACECQA.

We welcome families and children to our inclusive service and endeavour to create an extension of the home environment. By working together with families, we will provide an environment that promotes quality care and education to the individual child. We believe that education is an evolving process that enriches and empowers the individual. ASTI – A Step Towards Independence will be a safe and secure, homely, private environment.

The mission of our service is to provide quality education and care that is inclusive and recognises diversity, in a safe and secure learning environment. Each child is encouraged to aim for personal excellence and to develop skills of independent learning and critical thinking in a co-operative learning environment.

We provide natural play spaces for the children to play, imagine and explore. We create a holistic program where the children's interests are the focus of the program.

The distance they have travelled through the Early Years Learning Framework is documented in their individual learning journals.

We run a school readiness program through the year to assist our children in becoming prepared for formal schooling.

We achieve this by collaborating with local primary schools and employing early childhood teachers at our centre. We provide extracurricular activities for our enrolled children at no extra cost. These include:

Musikal Kids - a music lesson provided by a qualified music teacher once a week

Active Kids - a movement and dance program provided by a local dance teacher

Swimming Lessons - will be arranged and take place at the PCYC swimming pool with qualified instructors on a set day each week. This is a complimentary service. For more information, please contact our Centre Director.

ASTI Childcare is an inclusive organisation, welcoming children with difficulties. We are also very aware that parents are often so busy that it's difficult to find the time to do drop and pickup, so we provide that service. For shift workers and parents in the trades  we help out by catering for very early and late dropoffs and pickups.
